Falling in love with fall

It seems as though the time has come to welcome fall. I had been holding on to the glorious summer days for as long as I could, but now I'm ready for fall. The leaves are beginning to change color, the days are getting shorter, and pumpkin spice lattes are calling my name. I've never been particularly fond of any one season, I'm usually that person saying "I can't wait for summer" or "I can't wait for winter" depending on the season. But this year I'm finding myself slowly falling for fall. I love the cool, cloudy days. I love the sweaters, scarves, and booties. I love the endless movie and netflix nights. I love the tree lined streets where the leaves have fallen everywhere. I just find myself slowly falling for fall.

I've been spending my fall days exploring the outdoors that surrounds my home, and the fall evenings catching up on my favorite TV series. I recently went out to a not-so-secret hidden gem, which consists of wide open spaces with view of the mountains in the background.

My shoes are obviously chucks, hence the photo above. My jeans and flannel are from American Eagle, and my top and bralette are from Urban Outfitters. My bralette you cannot see but I felt the need to mention it because its so freaking comfy and cute! If you want to check it out in more detail click here.

What are your favorite things about fall?

Eating in the Dark

I recently went to a very popular restaurant in Vancouver called Dark Table. If you haven't already figured out by the title of this post and the name of the restaurant, essentially you eat in the dark. The idea is that when your sight is taken away, your other senses such as taste are heightened.

When we first arrived, they gave us a menu and we sat in a lit area on the front patio where we could read the menu and place our order. We were then escorted by our server, who is blind, inside the restaurant to our table. The darkness in the restaurant is like nothing I've ever experienced. It was so incredibly dark, I don't know if my describing it will do it justice. When you first get inside, you're constantly waiting for your eyes to adjust so you could at least see the outlines of things around you. That never happened. You are just sitting in complete darkness.

When the food arrived, that's when the real fun began. They have a few different options for meal courses, but we went with the 3 course meal; a starter, an entree, and dessert. When we placed our order we only got to choose the entree, the rest is left as a surprise. Our starter was some type of salad, my entree was risotto with garlic prawns and veggies, and dessert was strawberry cheesecake, if my senses were working correctly. All the food was pretty tasty, however it made me a little nervous when I was eating something and couldn't quite figure out what it was. The funny part was that sometimes you would bring the fork to your mouth and no food would be on it. That's when I decided to start using my fingers. Yes, I was in a fully public restaurant with other people and I was eating risotto with my fingers but hey, nobody could see me. The rest of the plates went very similar to that and before we knew it the experience was over.

Overall it was a great experience that I would recommend everybody try at least once. I can assure you that it's not for everyone, but it's worth it to give it a try. Normally about now I would post some photos, as that's one of my favorite things about blogging, but my pictures of dinner would be dark nothings. Not to worry, we did take a walk along the water before dinner which I got some good shots of, so here they are.

Working environments

It's interesting how everyone has different ideas of inspiring environments. Some can work in chaos with many things going on in the background, whereas others couldn't fathom having a single thing out of place. As I'm writing this post, I'm sitting in my semi-clean bedroom with dim lights, the flickering of candles, and music in the background. This is my idea of an inspiring environment. And it's not so much that I feel inspired, but I feel calm and at peace. Not easily distracted. I can get lost in my thoughts and simply work away feeling good about it. I'm not really sure if any of what I'm saying makes any sense to anyone else, but maybe you can share what type of environments you work best in.

Side note. I'm currently burning three candles. Two of them are scented, blood orange and ruby red pomegranate. Citrus-y scented candles are my go-to.

Fashion posts?

Hello there! Happy Saturday and hallelujah to the weekend.. unless you're like me and have to work.

So I desperately need to make a serious change in my wardrobe. And I don't necessarily mean I need to change the types of clothes I'm wearing, but I still have stacks of clothes from early high school that NEED to be cleaned out ASAP! I constantly feel as though I'm going through my closet and getting rid of items here and there but lets face it, getting rid of a few items at a time isn't going to cut it when you have a hoarders closet like I do. So what better way to keep myself on track of sorting, organizing, downsizing AND updating my wardrobe, then to document it for the whole wide world if you are so inclined to follow along.

First things first, sorting and downsizing. I will sort through my wardrobe with 3 categories in mind: keep, donate, and trash. Now this may take a number of days since I very easily get distracted with old items I forgot I had, but I will report back and let you know how my sorting and downsizing goes. I am thinking of doing many organizing of my closet and fashion type posts, but for now I will leave you with this gem. One of my many dream closets.

Seriously, I could live in here.
